“By all means, hire someone to set up your accounts ” I agree.
As well I’d add a rider: Have the specialist set up an account PARALLEL to your main needs, for example, set up a PERSONAL blog, and get used to the blog, playing with appearance, making posts for a few days, and then, with what you’ve learned about driving the blog, set up and be in control of your corporate blog. (or twitter account or …).
Setting up social media is not that complex; but the first time through can be overwhelming.
A trial run helps us to do a good job after the final dress rehearsal.

I wish I’d followed my own advice two years ago … (glum)

I think that this is very valid point. I frequent various CBC websites, and I’m very aware that the comments sections on various articles are getting “stacked” on certain issues. I don’t think that people on the right or the left are exclusively to blame — I think that both are doing it. I also agree that the calibre of discourse would be greatly improved if people were not allowed to slam each other in an anonymous way.

I think that hiding behind anonymity has powerful — and usually negative — psychological effects on people. The internet and social media provide a truly marvelous way for people to connect. It would be a pity if anonymity online became a licence for abuse of others.

Very good information Elizabeth! It would seem to me that it would also be a benefit for real estate agents to send an anniversary card to their clients on the anniversary of the closing date of the sale or purchase of their home – just to keep them top of mind in case they need to move or to give referrals.

Businesses grossly underestimate how much damage they’re doing to their businesses by not saying thank you with a gift. A survey on real estate agents found most people did not get thanked with a gift when they bought their home, but that 63% would use them again when they bought their next home and 61% would actively recommend them to others seeking a home.

How about sending an “anniversary” gift? Celebrate your company’s anniversary each year by sending a gift to your colleagues. Include a little note saying you’re X number of years in business.
